So once again here I am giggling at myself – when I did my Intentions and Desires boards the other day – I put a sentence on my Desires board stating ‘simplicity’. Once again at the time not sure what I wanted to achieve through this but I stated that I needed to work on simplicity within my life.  And there the request went out to the Universe.

So on Thursday afternoon I had the wonderful opportunity of attending a talk and healing session by Patrick San Francesco.  It was sooo refreshing to have someone who is obviously very spiritual being so light hearted about life and about what he does for a living.  I tend to find spiritual people rather serious and the work they do also to be very serious. But this was awesome, he was one of the funniest people I have ever met and his philosophy about how to approach life was seriously refreshing.  This also made me realise that I should really remind myself to stay in a lighthearted state of being.

So at the core of it we are all here to enjoy ourselves, to have fun and appreciate how amazing it is to be on earth. And all of us seem to forget this one simple fact. We chose to come here. We did not choose to come here to suffer and hate every second of being here. We chose to enjoy. So start by making things simple for yourself. What are you trying to achieve – you are trying to live a happy life. So when you wake up in the morning you choose how you feel, you choose to come down the stairs to the breakfast table with a smile on your face. You choose to enjoy your breakfast and smile about how wonderful it is that you are alive today and that you are able to breath.  You choose every single reaction to things that happen to you.

The words that people speak over you – you choose how to react to these. If someone tells you, you are fabulous you say thanks you smile and you move on. If someone tells you, you are stupid or awful, you take it on and you replay it in your head continuously and so you go on. You forget that the words they speak are because of their own issues and very little to do with you at all. So now you let that determine how you feel and you once again choose your reaction to it.

So why don’t we just simplify everything for ourselves – choose how you feel, choose what you take on, choose how you react. The only person that can make you feel crappy about you is you. So take some responsibility and choose the best for you. It really is not that hard.

I am making this my own mission to implement this simple change in my life – analyse and choose to respond positively.

So thank you Universe for putting me in that room on Thursday and for letting me once again realise how simple it is to make my own life easier.

I choose simple!!

So see if you can start doing that this week, in the last 3 days it has taken my stress level down a bunch I promise you.  And minimized stress is good for all of us so what have you got to loose…..

So this week I was once again truly amazed, and I am sitting here smiling as I sarcastically say to myself ‘Of course you where’….

I know, I know, it is a bit of an internal joke with myself. I am actually not amazed, I should have known, but I like to conveniently look over messages that my guides give me…..  I am totally human too you know!

Anyway, so let’s put you in the picture.  Last week I wrote about ‘Intentions and Desires’ and I told you about the exercise of setting intentions, so on my intentions board that I put together I stuck a picture of an Egyptian Goddess and as an intention I put out there that I would like to learn more about that. Not sure why I put it there, but it filled a space on the board and I loved the way she looked.  Then this week happened.  I went to a Soul Journey workshop on Saturday and I have been sat with some questions in my mind about what is coming up for me next as I constantly feel like there is something new around the corner.

So Journeying work is extremely sacred and beautiful. Through internal meditation you are able to answer some questions for yourself.

So on the Saturday we first started off with a meditation, meeting your Spirit Animal for the moment, the animal that you will work with, it is basically another type of guide that will assist you in your journey.  So what came up for me was the Rhino. So Rhino’s are all about history, they are about the ancient knowledge of the world.  That immediately brought something up for me – last year I had done some work and had been told that I need to connect with ancient knowledge – at the time I had no idea what it was about – and generally when this happens I shelve the information as I know when the time for me is right it will all make perfect sense.

Then later in the morning we started with our journey – so you have to create your question and you will then journey by yourself to find out your answers. So the facilitator does rhythmic drumming and you then close your eyes and start your own meditation listening to the lovely sounds around you.  You have to ask permission to enter this sacred journey and state your question clearly – my question was about what this ancient knowledge is that I need to connect with – I then started off.

It was such a beautiful experience – I was immediately taken to Egypt where I met with an Egyptian Goddess who guided me through what I needed to know and what I should be looking to learn and find out about.  I really understood what she showed me and it all made perfect sense. It was such an amazing experience and I will be forever grateful for what I got from it.

Now I have totally given up on thinking about co-incidence in my life, I now live in a constant belief of synchronicity. So last week I put it out there that I wanted to find out about the goddesses and this week I found my answer (of course I did 😉 ). I have also been inundated with Egyptian articles, books and tours.  So how exciting.

This just once again proves to me that if you put it out there the Universe will send you the answer. You just need to make sure you are prepared to listen.  This journey ahead is going to be an interesting one for me, but it feels right so I am holding on for this roller coaster ride once more!

So make sure you put your questions out there clearly, and then open your eyes and ears for those amazing answers even if it does take a year to get to you.

Intentions and Desires

Last week I went to my weekly meditation class and we did a very interesting exercise.

I have previously done vision boards, and love to do them with my clients too but I have never done this before. It is basically an intention board and then a desires board. Now intention being what you actually want to achieve, basically something that you will be actioning in the near future. Then desires being stuff that you are looking at in the far future or even stuff you are wishing for.

It was quite interesting to do this. My intentions was very clear about what I want to do in the near future. It had a lot to do with my family, my business and just general things that I want to do at the moment. Then when it got to desires, it was a bit different, I realised that my wishes are all about travelling and experiencing freedom but then one came up and I was not sure why I put it out there but it was about creating simplicity in my life. Then as we spoke a bit more afterwards I realised that it was actually something I was actively pursuing and needing right now in my life, so I had to actually start looking at moving that to my intentions board.

Now the point of this blog today is to basically bring up the following – I think that we forget to sit and think about what we want to do with ourselves and our lives. We don’t make time to do that introspection. So this weekend if you have 1 hour spare (because this is really all it takes), grab some magazines, still yourself and ask the Universe for some guidance. Open up the magazines and start seeing what unfolds for you – cut out the pictures that speak to you and then arrange them as either a desire or an intention. The point is that we need to start tuning into what we want to do with our lives – we can’t just sit around and hope those awesome Guides are going to take us somewhere if we have no idea where we want to go. They are not going to tell you, so you need to start making plans and after that actioning those plans and then they will guide you to the right places to make this happen.

And make sure you distinguish between desires and intentions – wanting to visit Nepal is on my desires list for instance, this is not something I see myself doing in the next year, but I am sure as heck not giving up on that dream so I will keep it on that list to remind myself that I have to at some stage move it to my intentions list. Having more fun is on my intentions list, this has been something I have been working on – don’t laugh – it is a serious problem for me – I am a very serious person and like to make everything serious, so it is something I have to work at 😉 – and I have to have in my face every day to remind me so I make work of it and do it! And I have a load of other stuff on my intentions list that needs actioning, so I am going to be busy for a while.

So go and have some fun with this, it is all part of getting to know yourself and it really works for me. Also make sure you put it up somewhere you can see it often, and check back every month and see how much progress you have made. I am always amazed when I look at my vision boards from previous years and see how far I have come. Tick it off if you must, but keep on tracking your progress and enjoy the process.

So living in the Cape is always a mix of sunshine and rain in the winter time. Freezing cold at times but then you get a day like yesterday where the sun is out in full force, the sky is clear and all the smoke and pollution has left the bay.

As it was such a beautiful morning our first thought was to go and hike in our Nature Reserve – barely 5km’s from our front door. We packed our rucksack and headed out the door.  I always love going out with my two boys, Ben our son, is always a bit reluctant to head out to the mountains as he knows how much me and Rob LOVE walking and just won’t stop. So he has really learnt from a young age just to go with it and keep walking.  As we started off the walk, it is a massive amount of uphill. Beautiful and surrounded by fynbos and proteas that instantly lifts your spirit and makes you not focus on the cold stiff legs that need to warm up. Ben was complaining about how heavy his legs felt and Rob imparted one of his usually gems of wisdom

So for some background – he is a long-distance cyclist and by long distance I mean he has done 1400km’s at a time, so this is the type of stuff he loves.

So he explained to Ben that when you start on a very long bike ride the first bit of the ride is always the hardest. Your legs and your body has to get used to this movement and to the strain, this takes an hour or two. During this period your body is in the process of producing endorphins.  Edorphins are the hormones that make you super happy, so once there is enough endorphins your body starts to release this and you start forgetting and not thinking about your sore legs and your tired body. You actually start enjoying the experience and having fun and somehow the same tough ride seems to be so much easier than when you started.

So that then made me think about our lives and the tough mountains that we sometime have to climb. Starting right at the bottom of the mountain, once we start walking up and trying to deal with this mountain (problem), it seems super hard, so hard that we don’t actually feel like starting it at all. But off you go, you take it one step at a time, moving ahead at a slow pace. Then you keep going because you are wondering what is around that next corner and also when will you actually get to that top part where you can take a rest.  You keep climbing and climbing and then eventually even though you are still moving up hill you start to feel a little happier, a little more smiley, you start seeing the flowers, you start noticing the beauty that surrounds you and you start feeling grateful for the amazing views that you see all around. And as you move even further up the more the endorphines keep increasing and more happiness creeps in. Then eventually you get to the top, you get to sit down on a beautiful little bench and look down at the steep path you just conquered. You can feel grateful for all the lessons learnt along the way.

We all have these mountains that we are faced with so very often, but if we just keep on going, just keep walking then it eventually gets easier and we get to the top. We have to remember that during all uphill battles eventually the endorphins will be released and that the happiness will come back, we just need to be patient, but it will happen and then there is no stopping us.

Everything in life is a mountain, every single project you undertake, every hardship, every new thing you have to learn.

So be strong, keep climbing your mountains, because the fun part is looking back and feeling proud about the lessons learnt.
